Tara and Josh’s Indian Wedding Weekend
Hey friends! I’m excited to be back to tell you about the incredible New York City wedding of another one of our awesome couples, Tara and Josh. These two lovebirds met while working at Meta, and their journey from coworkers to friends to a couple is just the sweetest. They tied the knot a year ago in a small, intimate City Hall wedding ceremony and decided to throw a grand reception to celebrate their first anniversary with a bang.
Indian Wedding Ceremony
Their wedding was a beautiful blend of cultures and traditions. To honor Tara’s Indian heritage, they included a Ganesh Puja (This is a private ceremony performed at the beginning of a Hindu wedding.) the day before the big reception. The ceremony featured an orange and pink floral motif on the mandap, which looked stunning against the greenery of Tara’s parents' backyard. Guests watched Tara and Josh exchange gorgeous garlands, light the Agni (fire) and walk 7 times around the fire together to represent their 7 vows of commitment to each other. Both set of parents gave beautiful blessings to close out their ceremony. Guests were then treated to an Indian lunch full of amazing flavors, both sweet and savory before heading home to change for the evening welcome party.
Welcome Party
Tara and Josh hosted a fun urban mermaid-themed yacht cruise around Manhattan with Harborline Cruises. How fun is that? Guests came dressed however they interpreted the theme. Tara was giving bridal mermaid in her first outfit and disco mermaid when she changed into a sparkly aqua mini dress. Josh continued to impress with his fun flamingo themed shirt and cool kicks.
Rainbow Room Reception
For their grand reception, Tara and Josh chose the iconic Rainbow Room, a venue with stunning views of New York City from the 65th floor of Rockefeller Center. The Rainbow Room’s glamorous ambiance, paired with its breathtaking panoramic skyline views, made it the ideal location for their high-energy, glamorous celebration. They wanted their guests to really feel the history and beauty of New York City.
When it came to their ensembles, Josh and Tara pulled no punches. Tara dazzled in three different outfits throughout the day. She started in a gorgeous gold lehenga, then changed into a sparkly white sari, and ended the night in a beautiful strapless red floor-length dress. Josh looked light James Bond in slim black tuxedo and Nike Air Max. The color palette for the wedding was rainbow-inspired, reflecting the vibrant and joyful theme of their venue’s namesake. Their stationery was equally unique, featuring not only the spectrum of rainbow colors but also other NYC icons like the Statue of Liberty, Ganesh, and their two little black dogs. These designs were everywhere, from the Ganesh Puja programs to the welcome signs and even the stickers on the candy bar take-home bags.
One of the standout features was how they transformed the cocktail hour space into a cool lounge during the reception. Our team worked behind the scenes to add greenery, pink disco balls, a rainbow-colored candy bar, a chai tea bar, and a black-and-white photobooth while guests were seated for dinner. Guests even got to use the I Heart NYC logo ice luge! The lounge space was a complete success.
The day was full of special moments, but one that really stood out was the video Josh put together. It was a 15-minute professional-grade interview-style video featuring interviews with both of them and their parents, childhood pictures, music, and stories about how they met. It was like watching a documentary of their love story.
