The Wedding Kit... The Unsung Hero of Your Wedding Day!

In the world of wedding planning, wedding kits play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and stress-free wedding day. While many planners provide their own kits, building your own can be a rewarding and personalized experience. In this blog post, we'll guide you through the essential items to include in your DIY wedding kit. From emergency essentials to handy tools and supplies, we'll help you assemble a comprehensive kit that will have you prepared for any situation.

Imagine this: it's your special day, filled with love and joy. But let's be real, life has a way of throwing us surprises. After years in the wedding industry, I have put together a wedding kit that really does cover all the bases. In this blog post, I'm sharing the secrets of what's tucked inside my black wheelie bag that ensures every moment of your celebration is flawless and unforgettable. From fashion emergencies to unexpected mishaps, the kit is equipped to handle it all. So sit back, relax, and let me walk you through the items that the team and I bring to make sure  your wedding day runs smoothly. Here we go…

Alright, let's start the essentials: health, beauty, and fashion items that are always in high demand! Trust me, at every wedding, someone always approaches me with the famous question, "Do you happen to have (insert item)?" And guess what? About 98% of the time, I've got it in my bag! So here are some of the most frequently requested items that come to the rescue.

Safety pins: Saving the day with quick wardrobe repairs.

Bobby pins: Taming flyaways and keeping hairstyles intact. (Also helpful if guests are wearing kippahs.)

Band-aids: Protecting against blisters or minor cuts.

Hairspray: Ensuring your locks stay perfectly styled all day long.

Deodorant: Staying fresh and confident from "I do" to the dance floor. This is a spray so more than one person can use it hygienically.

Nail polish remover & clear nail polish: For any last-minute nail emergencies or stopping a run in your pantyhose.

Tampons / Pads: Because wedding days don't always stick to the schedule.

Fashion tape: Keeping clothes in place and avoiding any unexpected slips. (No one wants to have a Janet Jackson moment on their wedding day.)

Makeup remover wipes: When your mascara goes to places it shouldn’t

Hair ties: Saving the day when it's time to let loose and hit the dance floor.

Pain reliever: Because no one wants a headache to ruin their day.

Antacids: For the moment when your tummy isn’t as happy you are.

So here are a few miscellaneous items that are helpful must-haves in your kit. These things will  keep you protected from minor mishaps that can cause major freak-outs. The best part is most of these items you probably already have in your home.

Super glue: Fixing broken shoe heels or other unexpected mishaps.

Baby powder: Banishing any sweat-induced discomfort.

Lint roller: Keeping your attire lint-free and camera-ready.

Sunscreen: Protecting your skin during outdoor ceremonies or photo sessions.

Q-tips: Perfect for quick touch-ups or makeup smudges.

Static guard: Winning the battle against clingy fabrics and static electricity.

Portable phone charger: Ensuring your phone stays powered up for capturing special moments.

Tissues: For happy tears and unexpected sniffles.

Small snacks (like granola bars): Providing a quick energy boost because no one likes a hangry wedding party!

Blister relief bandaids: Offering instant relief from uncomfortable shoe-induced blisters.

Stain remover: Erasing any accidental spills or stains.

Scissors: Coming to the rescue for any packaging or thread snipping emergencies.

Sewing kit: A trusty ally for any minor clothing repairs, bustle breaks or button mishaps.

Mints: Keeping your breath fresh for all those close-up moments.

Baby Wipes: For anything you need to clean.

This last section might be my favorite! This is a list of the random gems that I keep in my kit. You don’t need these in yours, but you can rest assured that I will have them available for you if needed.

Small tool box complete with a hammer: There to fix, adjust or secure anything from florals and signage to chuppahs and ceremony arches. It was a surprising inclusion that came in handy during an Orthodox Jewish wedding's pre-ceremony event.

Zip ties: The versatile superhero of quick fixes, securing decorations, or bundling loose cords.

Small Umbrella: Shielding you from unexpected rain showers or giving shade on a sunny day.

Extension cords: Ensuring power reaches every corner of your venue for lighting, music, or other electrical needs.

Various types of tape: From sturdy packing tape to double-sided tape and even painter's tape, these adhesive wonders can handle anything from securing decorations to quick clothing adjustments.

These may seem like the most random items to have in a wedding day emergency kit, but trust me, they have saved the day more times than I can count. If this has sparked your desire to assemble your own emergency kit, but you don’t want to build it from scratch, here are some recommendations for pre made kits for you and yours. Remember, weddings are full of surprises, and having these essentials can really make all the difference in ensuring a smooth and stress-free day. Cheers to a wedding that is as fabulous as you are!
